Zusammenfassung:

DE: Dieses Paper analysiert Erfahrungen des „Breathe in Break out! Projekts“,Hip Hop Kultur für Empowerment von Jugendlichen u. a. einzusetzen. Im Anschluss an eine theoretisch-historische Bestimmung von Hip Hop-Aktivismus im deutschen Kontext werden erstens pädagogische Prozesse politischer Sensibilisierung untersucht, zweitens die Möglichkeiten der Auslösung machtkritischer Gegennarrative.

Das Paper untersucht, wie Aktivist*innen diese Narrative verkörpern und einsetzen, um auf den öffentlichen Diskurs einzuwirken, Events politisch zu gestalten und Bündnisse mit sozialen Bewegungen zu bilden.

EN: This paper analyzes experiences made by “Breathe in Break out!” in empowering youths and others through Hip Hop culture in Halle (Germany). After a theoretical and historical discussion of the definition of Hip Hop activism in the German context, the paper first explores educational mechanisms of political awareness-raising. Second, it discusses the possibilities of stimulating counterhegemonic narratives.

We will see how activists embody und employ these narratives to influence public discourse, how they confer a political outlook to events and how they build alliances with social movements.
